| Abstract;Inhaled glucocorticosteroids are indispensable drugs in the long-term management of asthma. The usable inhaled glucocorticosteroids in Japan are beclomethasone dipropionate, fluticasone propionate, and budesonide. The usefulness of inhaled glucocorticosteroids for asthmatic attack has also been reported. For the asthma which can not be controlled by inhaled glucocorticosteroids and other antiasthmatic drugs ( LABA, leukotriene receptor antagonist, theophylline, etc. ), oral steroids are used. Short-term intensive administration of the oral steroids is very useful for acute exacerbation of the asthma. The intravenous administration of glucocorticosteroids should be started, when the patient is in critical condition due to the asthmatic attack. |
