| Abstract;Asahi Kasei Corp. has succeeded in development and industrialization of the world's first manufacturing process of polycarbonate using CO2 as raw material and without using extremely poisonous phosgene. The commercial plant (Chimei Chemical: 65,000t/y) has been continuing full production since the start of operation (July, 2002) without any technical troubles. The Asahi Kasei method has completely got rid of the problems of conventional methods(environment, safety and cost). The process is environmentally benign to realize green and sustainable chemistry. |
