| Abstract;Welding consumables for arc welding are widely used in various industrial fields. In Japan, roughly 300,000 tons/year have been consumed over the past few years. Welding consumable development and production at Kobe Steel has been undertaken with the following keywords in mind:"higher efficiency", "higher performance", "environmental improvement."In this paper, current state-of-the-art and future trends in the development of welding consumables are described.
