Abstract; The principle of treatment of itching is naturally treatment for the causal disease of itching. In many diseases, generally, itching is sedated, if the treatment for the cause of itching is performed. However, it is difficult that the degree of itching is judged by others, since itching is a subjective symptom. Strong itching often causes lowering of the QOL such as less sleep at night or lowering in concentration of mind. Also, scratching causes deterioration of disease state in atopic dermatitis, brings about bacterial infection to result in infectious impetigo, and extend viral infection like molluscum contagiosum. Therefore, treatment of itching as symptomatic treatment is also important. Itching is especially strong in insect bite and sting (caterpillar dermatitis), and clearly at a different degree of intensity from general eczema compared by the value of visual analog scale (VAS). Next to insect bite and sting, itching of acute urticaria is the strongest, and in atopic dermatitis, itching is strong in most serious or serious diseases, but in moderate disease, it is improved. Itching of psoriasis is weaker than that. At present, there is a tendency to consider the therapy according to the mechanism of itching.
