| Abstract;Prostaglandins(PGs) as a provocative material of inflammation have also the maintenance function of homestasis in a living body, such as gastric mucosal protection and maintenance of renal blood flow.There are two kinds of isoenzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, in the cyclooxygenase which is a synthetase of PGs; the former is a constitutive-type enzyme present in the gastric mucosa, kidney, and thrombocyte, and the latter has been thought to be a inductive-type enzyme which is expressed by the inflammatory stimulation. Meloxicam(I) is the oxicam system non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAIDs).I has the high selectivity for COX-2.Although the III phase test of the clinical trial in Japan showed its high usefulness compared with the existing medicines, the general reduction of its side effect could not be clarified. |
