| Abstract; This article introduces the contents of 5 articles specially issued for the title described above as 'from RNA virus replication to its innovation', by describing that they have common keywords of host functions, and genetic recombination technology,e.g., Iba, and Nagata et al. describe the functions of host cell nuclei involved in genome dynamics of retrovirus and influenza virus, respectively, and Kawaoka et al., Kato, and Hasegawa et al. describe studies on minus strand RNA virus, of which reverse genetics have been retarded, by using influenza virus, and Sendai virus, respectively as research materials. This article itself also explains about RNA virus replicons, and host factors of RNA viri. Furthermore, it describes historical backgrounds of RNA virus engineering, and discusses progress from RNA virus engineering to basic and applied sciences. |
