| Abstract;We have reported that the feeding attractants for A. planci are arachidonic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and betaine. We report here the feeding attractants of another starfish P. boreali, which feed on sea urchins, the important seafood, in Hokkaido, Japan. Water soluble fraction was obtained from the crude extract of sea urchin Strongylocentrotus nudus to separate guided by attractant assay of the starfish in aquariums. (author abst.) |
