| Abstract; This paper describes a PC cluster in view of its current situation and trends toward future developments. The PC cluster is considered as a type of a high-performance computer (HPC) employing parallel processing technology, in which a large number of off-the-shelf processors are interconnected through a TCP/IP network, etc. After commercially put into the market, the PC cluster is getting widely used, the application fields of which are being expanded from academic use to business use. In this paper, a history of developing an HPC, concepts and issues of the PC cluster are shown. |
