Abstract;A vertical take-off and landing type rocket is one system of reusable space transportation systems. Regarding an airframe of this system, an airframe bottom area is larger in comparison with a nozzle exit area; therefore, the so-called ground effect in which a nozzle jet interacts with the ground near the ground is anticipated. In this study, to grasp this effect experimentally, an effective thrust ( a resultant force of a nozzle thrust and an airframe bottom aerodynamic force ) was measured directly by installing a model to a wire balance. The effects of pitch angles and cross winds on effective thrusts were also examined.
