Abstract;A new chloride ion(Cl-) conducting solid electrolyte, calcium doped lanthanum oxychlorides which show a high stability even in a high humid and at elevated temperatures, was developed. The Cl- ion conductivity of oxychlorides doped with 20mol% Ca is approximately 1.8*10-2S cm-1 at 800.DEG.C. and the Cl- ion transference number is estimated to be almost unity. The present Cl- ion conducting solid electrolytes, which are insoluble in water and hold a high stability even in elevated temperatures are greatly expected to be applied for functional materials such as Cl2 gas sensor, etc. (author abst.)
