Abstract; We conducted a survey through observations and questionnaires over the technique and skills of the young skilled woodworkers who participated in the 38th National Skills Competition. We later carried out an operations analysis in woodworking based on the survey. As a result, we have learned that there were some differences in the technique and skills for woodworking between the higher and lower ranking ones in the competition and also between the company technicians and the students in the vocational training institutions. The analysis also showed that methods of practice (or guidance) for the competition were more important than years of experience in woodworkng, in order to win a prize in the skills competition.
