| Abstract;The mixed processed food containing pumpkin seed extract and soybean germ extract, PEP, was studied in 39 elder women with pollakiuria to evaluate the efficacy and safty after six weeks repeated oral administration. Results: 1. Efficacy; 1) PEP showed a significant difference in reducing the frequency of urination at night, and improved the satisfaction with their sleep. 2) PEP showed a significant difference in reducing the frequency of incontinence. 2. Safety; 17 adverse events were observed in 14 patients. Two events of appreciable testosterone increase were reported, and regarding the relation of the testosterone increase to PEP, 1 subject was denied, although the other one was reported "Unknown". 1 subject of the testosterone increase recovered the testosterone level 68 days and the other subject recovered the testosterone level 143 days, after the end of administration of PEP. The relation to PEP was denied in other 15 adverse events. Therefore, it showed that PEP was well tolerated. 3. Conclusion; PEP significantly reduced the frequency of urination and improved the quality of their sleep, and it was considered a well tolerated. (author abst.) |
