| Abstract; The author investigated ten species of three Genera, Arcyria, Hemitrichia and Trichia, belonging to Trichiaceae of Myxomycetes. Specifically, the surface ornamentations of the capillitial thread and a spore of sporangium were observed in detail using a SEM and taxonomically analyzed. These results clarified their morphological characteristics and gave a few taxonomical aspects of Myxomycetes. The capillitial threads of the entire species examined are tubular, 2.5-7.MU.m in diameter. The surface of the thread of specimens belonging to Genus Arcyria has blunt or cog-like protuberances. Arcyria incarnata and A. insignis have very similar surface ornamentation and both species have blunt and cog-like protuberances. Specimens of Hemitrichia and Trichia have a spiral banded pattern. Trichia botrytis and T. subfusca have very similar surface ornamentation and they have spiral banded patterns without protuberances. The size of a spore of the entire species ranges from 5-13.MU.m in diameter. The spores of specimens belonging to Genus Arcyria are comparatively smaller than the spores of Genus Hemitrichia and Trichia. Three species of Arcyria have warts on the surface. Two to several warts on a surface of species belong to Genus Arcyria gather together and form an irregular aggregated wart. A. virescens has papillae. Specimens belong to Hemitrichia and Trichia have banded reticulations, but Trichia botrytis has papillae. Trichia subfusca has a unusual pattern of warts on a hemisphere and reticulations on the other hemisphere. These morphological features are very important for catagorization of the taxonomical characteristics of Myxomycetes. (author abst.) |
