Abstract;A study composed of three parts were made for the purpose of a penetrating method of drug abuse protective education as a primary protection against drug abuse of high school students, and establishment of secondary prevention for early detection and early treatment. 1) A slide teaching material for drug abuse prevention education was developed and prepared, and the reaction of students to the lecture using the slide teaching material was investigated and analyzed. 2) The change in a year between the questionnaire to senior high school students who received a lecture of drug abuse prevention education in 1999 and reinvestigation about the drug related problem after 1 year was surveyed. 3) An experimental attempt of initial intervention to a high-risk group of drug problem among high school students was carried out. As a primary prevention for high school students, drug abuse protection lectures were carried out by two ways, one being a specialist lecture using a slide teaching material and the other being experience stories by DARC members, and an impact was confirmed from the investigation to the students. As a secondary prevention, briefing intervention was carried out in a form of school counseling as early intervention to drug abuse, and it was confirmed to be a way. This experimental attempt proved that school counseling was a possible countermeasure against the drug problem.
