| Abstract;A 7-year old boy took internal medicines for 5 days on October 12, 1999 because of upper respiratory inflammation. On the beginning of November, a purple-red eruption with vesicles appeared on his right forearm, which didn't disappear easily, and he had the first examination to our hospital on November 29. He took internal medicines on December 30, 1999 and January 31, 2000 and purple-red macules appeared on the next day in each case. The eruptions disappeared in half to 1 month, leaving slightly pigmentation. A result of patch test was all negative, provocation test of the cyproheptadine hydrochloride showed purple-red macules on the regions of former eruptions. Therefore, we diagnosed this case fixed drug eruption due to cyproheptadine hydrochloride. The fixed drug eruption due to the antihistaminic drug is very rare and this is the first report of fixed drug eruption due to cyproheptadine hydrochloride in the world. (author abst.) |
