Abstract; The space debris is becoming one of the major problem for future space activities. The capturing or removing it is an important task. The authors, here, propose a tether based system to control attitude motion of debris. The system comprises of a debris and an auxiliary mass. A general three dimensional motion of debris initially undergoing rotational motion is considered. The auxiliary mass is deployed by tether. The tether deployment strategy along with a simple control law for offset variation on debris is developed in order to control its attitude motion. Finally, the numerical simulation is being carried out to validate the feasibility of proposed concept. It is found that the tether deployment strategy suggested along with small offset change can provide the required attitude control of debris. The concept proposed may be useful for future space applications. (author abst.)
