Abstract;A method for controlling the attitude of a non-cooperative, free-flying object in orbit by means of repeated impulses is considered. Using numerical simulations it is shown that nutation can be converted into simple spin or stopped altogether by providing a series of external, well-timed mechanical impulses. It is also shown that this method is robust against force errors. Because of uncertainties in the projectile-target collision-force profile, a simulator using an air table has been designed.
