Abstract;More than 600 cysts of Taenia crassiceps (Zeder, 1800) Rudolphi, 1810 (Taeniidae, Cestoda) were found from the abdominal cavity, and serosa of liver, large intestine, spleen, kidney, adrenal glands, pancreas of a chinchilla, Chinchilla brevicaudata Waterhouse, 1848 imported from Netherland. As this cestode is a zoonotic pathogen, special attention should be paid for pet rodents imported from Europe and North America to Japan. This is the first record of T. crassiceps form chinchilla.
