Asteroid exploration spacecraft Hayabusa

Hayabusa is an asteroid exploration spacecraft that was launched in May 2003. It follows an orbit similar to that of the Earth, with the purpose of exploring the Itogawa asteroid, which was named after Hideo Itogawa, the father of rocket development in Japan. Hayabusa successfully touched down on the asteroid in November 2005. It has collected samples and is now flying toward a return to Earth in 2010.
