Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation)

The aim of the Miraikan in Tokyo Academic Park, Aomi, Tokyo, is to enable visitors to experience the latest scientific and technological advances firsthand. It is also thus affectionately referred to as the "Mirai (future) Can," packed full of items and ideas at the leading edge of scientific research. The museum’s executive director is former Space Shuttle astronaut Mamoru Mori. Highlights include the Geo-Cosmos image of Earth as seen from space in the first floor atrium and permanent exhibitions of objects and materials on robots, micro-machines, nanotechnology, and superconductivity. Museum guides are on hand to provide explanations and answer questions.
