Three-dimensional television

Three-dimensional TVs use a variety of methods to reproduce three-dimensional images. Conventional systems use the differences in color and light waves to give the appearance of three dimensions but require the use of special 3D glasses. NHK Science and Technical Research Laboratories is conducting research on an “integral three-dimensional television” that does not require special glasses and on which 3D images can be seen from any angle. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications seeks to have this technology ready for use by businesses by 2020 and for use in TV sets and phones at home by 2025.
