This is Japan’s guideline identifying the direction of environmental policy and calling for efforts to create global frameworks. An environmental council was formed in line with a 2007 policy address by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The council has reviewed current global environmental and related issues and established a direction for moving forward. Eight priority items were identified, including international leadership to address climate change, sustainable recycling through the 3Rs, and economic growth centered on environmental and energy technology.
