Introduction of a superconducting, magnetically levitated linear motor car, capable of traveling at speeds of 500 kilometers per hour and linking Tokyo and Osaka in just an hour, was included in the basic Shinkansen (bullet train) plan drawn up in 1973. The planned route will link Tokyo and Osaka via Yamanashi Prefecture, Nagoya, and Nara. A test track has already been completed in Yamanashi that will be incorporated into the main line in the future. |
