This film festival, hosted by the Japan Science Foundation and three other organizations, has been held annually since 1960. Outstanding films relating to science and technology films are selected to encourage an interest in science and technology. The winning films are announced during Science and Technology Week in April of each year, and are later shown around Japan. A National Children’s Science Film/Video Festival is also held. This contest, featuring science films made by children, has few rivals in the world.
